The 411 on Rigsby...

Rigsby was puchased in May of 2012 from Lawrence Arabians, in Pomeroy, Ohio. He is a Straight Egyptian Arabian. That means...
...his ancestors saw a lot of this.

His sire is beyond impressive
Imperial Shehaab

And his dam was quite easy on the eyes. May she rest in peace...

Interesting fact about Rigsbys' pedigree for all of you Arab gurus: His bloodline is free of The Minstril.

The wonderful story of Rigsbys' sire line:

When Rigsby arrived in the end of June, his body-count left a lot to be desired. He had lost some condition resulting from an infection related to a recent gelding procedure. He lost A LOT of condition from a less than steller shipping experience. BEWARE OF USING THIS SHIPPER:

Unless of course, you like to go days without hearing from your shipper while your horse is enroute, or you want your horse to be transported 1500 miles in a slant load trailer that reeks of urine; with his head tied too high so he develops a cough it takes 2 months to get rid of. As if all that wasn't enough, he lost even more condition from the stress of his new arrival, and trying to find a paddock with a herd that wouldn't beat the living snot out of him on the regular.

And so, Operation: "Get Rigsby fattened up for winter", began.
Phase 1. The meticulous daily feeding program...

 2 1/2 lbs of this...

plus a 1/2 lb of this...

and 3 oz of this...
soaked in 2 cups of this...

sprinkled on top of a half flake of this...

and covered with a half basket of this...

Yes, you're seeing that correctly. I hand pick grass for my horse.

You don't?

And, after the hour it takes him to consume all that, he seems content to spend the rest of his day here...

Phase 2. Blanketing in extreme weather, to conserve precious calories...
"Why do I have wear this?"

Because of this:
.

Did it pay off?

Fast forward three months, and voilà! I got...THIS!
Fancy-Schmancy Pony/Future Event Horse, with ribs almost covered. And he turned into a bay!
